Our Mission

Wider Path Home is a nonprofit organization that assists families to find the home where their heart is.  It does this by providing a solid pathway to achieve home ownership. We provide

  •  top-tier financial literacy training to potential buyers, 

  • connecting them with conscientious lenders, and 

  • offering flexible down payment assistance that can even be paired with other sources, 

guiding both individuals and couples every step of the way to financing their home.

Homes are not just buildings where we are protected, but sacred places where we are rooted, grow and thrive.  Wider Path Home is an organization that looks to expanding that road, opening home ownership to everyone, especially those who have been historically excluded from this very important investment in their present and future housing needs. 

Our Why

It may surprise you that racial disparity in homeownership not only still exists, but the gap between White and African American homeownership is worse. Today, only 43% of African Americans own homes, while 72% of White Americans own homes. Wider Path Home Foundation is a nonprofit committed to helping African Americans and others who are overcoming generations of homeownership barriers. Join us in helping Americans who are overcoming years of redlining secure homes and build generational wealth.

  • 161 of Wider Path Home Foundation's homebuyers successfully purchased homes in Maryland 

  • 80 of Wider Path Home Foundation’s homebuyers successfully purchased in Virginia. 

  • 16 of Wider Path Home Foundation’s homebuyers successfully purchased in Pennsylvania. 

  • 5 of Wider Path Home Foundation’s homebuyers successfully purchased in each of these states: DC, West Virginia, and Delaware.
