Who We Are
Our Mission: What is a “Wider Path Home”?
Our organization is composed of professionals in the housing, faith, government and nonprofit communities, all working together to widen the pathway to homeownership in the cities where we work. We believe that the ability to have safe, livable places to be in desirable neighborhoods is the right of every person, but for far too long the pathway to this goal has been made immensely more narrow and difficult by artificial (And evil) barriers such as racial, ethnic, gender, and socio-economic status that consistently limit access to wealth, whereas whites with more status have not experienced these barriers.
Wider Path Home seeks to open the road to homeownership for these and other populations who deserve to have the same access to knowledge, fair lending practices, and good neighborhoods where their families can thrive, too. Thus, we are opening the path so that families can grow and prosper without negative and artificial barriers. Come join us!
OUR ORIGINS, OUR PRESENT AND OUR FUTURE
Wider Path Home was founded by devoted Christian professionals, with one common goal: To assist people in select cities by providing them superior financial literacy training, a list of well-trained, conscientious lenders, and subsequent down payment assistance to help them finance their home. We value our contributors and partners who come from many backgrounds and welcome people from all faiths, beliefs, fields, and areas of expertise who align with this spirit of loving and respectful service to join us in the building of Wider Path and the work of advancing community development and affordable housing.
The Fair Housing Act, 42 U.S.C. 3601 et seq., prohibits discrimination by direct providers of housing, such as landlords and real estate companies as well as other entities, such as municipalities, banks or other lending institutions and homeowners insurance companies whose discriminatory practices make housing unavailable to persons because of: race or color, religion, sex, national origin, familial status, or disability.
Our Values
Our community development efforts align with the plight of those overcoming generations of injustice set in motion by the housing industry.
We bring housing industry sectors together to advance racial reconciliation, service to all, respect for and advocacy with all faiths and cultures, and humble learning with those who generationally have been overcoming injustices how to apply resources strategically to expand equal opportunity.

The path to homeownership has been too narrow for too long for black and brown people. Wider Path is committed to widening that path and bringing the needed resources crucial to securing a home. Security is essential for human flourishing, and the home provides a stable place for individuals and families to foster emotional, physical, and financial security.
